Welcome to the Rio Grande Valley

HFH is focused on assisiting very low income families (primarily of Hispanic descent) with needed repairs on their residences, all the while, modeling Christian attitudes and witness. Jesus is our example as he challenged us: "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."

Our harvest field is in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). The RGV stretches from Brownsville to Falcon, a 135 mile trip from east to west and about 60 miles north to south. That is 8,100 square miles of ministry opportunity in rural as well as urban environments. This area of the country is developing and the need for impacting children and youth is great. The RGV is among the 100 most financially challenged areas in the US according to the recent census. We have a huge population of people living in very small, over-crowded homes. Some of these homes have holes in the walls, floors, roofs, etc. These are families who are here seeking a hope that we can share with them. Most of these families come from a non-Christian belief system. They need to hear about the love that Jesus has for them. We try to meet some of the basic physical needs as a means to opening the door to talk about the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ.
